Believe Me is a very engaging and fast paced book, considering I read it start to finish in one day. This book can get you out of a reading slump. I am pleasantly surprised.

Book Blurb of Believe Me:
In this twisty psychological thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Before, an actress plays both sides of a murder investigation.
A struggling actor, a Brit in America without a green card, Claire needs work and money to survive. Then she gets both. But nothing like she expected.
Claire agrees to become a decoy for a firm of divorce lawyers. Hired to entrap straying husbands, she must catch them on tape with their seductive propositions. The rules? Never hit on the mark directly. Make it clear you’re available, but he has to proposition you, not the other way around. The firm is after evidence, not coercion. The innocent have nothing to hide.
Then the game changes.
When the wife of one of Claire’s targets is violently murdered, the cops are sure the husband is to blame. Desperate to catch him before he kills again, they enlist Claire to lure him into a confession.
Claire can do this. She’s brilliant at assuming a voice and an identity. For a woman who’s mastered the art of manipulation, how difficult could it be to tempt a killer into a trap? But who is the decoy . . . and who is the prey?
Book Review of Believe Me:
I started reading this book in the morning, and I finished it by night! According to my kobo, I read it for almost 6.5 hours. It was a really fast paced read! To be honest, I have read another book by this author, and I was mostly happy with it, but the ending wasn’t emphatic enough for me. So I went into this with those expectations, but it was better!
It kept me engaged enough to binge read it in one day! There were a couple of points in the story where I was like, wait a second, this doesn’t make sense, or wait a second, this doesn’t seem realistic – but the story did address all of those points! No spoilers, obviously, in my reviews. So don’t worry, all I will say is it’s quite clean, by the end of the book most loose ends are tied up!
There are some little things that I’m feeling are unanswered, but that doesn’t detract from the story or the book or the plot as a whole. It addresses all of my questions and that’s something that is kind of important to me in general in books. Even if they’re mysteries or psychological thrillers or whatever, suspension of disbelief about the story is one thing, but logic – whether this is a realistic way for the story to continue – that’s important too.
So yeah, the story does address all of that, and I’m happy about that aspect of it. Obviously it’s a very engaging and fast paced book considering I read it start to finish in one day. I like the plot, I like the characters. I will not say much about the personality of the characters, because we’d already be getting into spoiler territory because of the nature of the book. So I cannot go there, since I like to keep my reviews spoiler free.
It’s worth the read – it’s worth a binge read, I would say – because that’s how I read it. This book can get you out of a reading slump and I am pleasantly surprised. You can see my review about the previous book, and I will be reading this author again.
Overall, pretty happy about Believe Me. I would definitely recommend it. I would say this is 4.5 stars. Just those little loose ends I mentioned, otherwise it would be a 5.
