Hi and welcome to Oh Just Books! Here, we talk about all things books, including reviews, recommendations, essays, and the occasional podcast episode. This lovely internet corner of mine started life as a review blog, and I feel it is now turning into something broader, something more expansive. I’m excited to be on this journey and see where it goes!
I’m Myra, and I started OJB in March 2017.
After years of reading paperbacks, hardbound, and second hand books, I was gifted a Kindle, where I discovered ever so many self-published authors who were writing wonderful things. That started my interest in discovering amazing new writers. That’s when I started this as a review blog. It used to live on blogspot, but now it’s got it’s very own domain! I also own a Kobo now, because of it’s seamless sync with Libby for library books here in Canada.
(There was a glorious period of two years straight where the following statement was true: A new book review post will be up every Monday.) I now post reviews whenever I finish reading a book. I find myself increasingly drawn to writing more about reading and writing itself, plus books as a whole, so expect more essays and opinion pieces. Apart from book reviews, I also offer express reviews, social media marketing, blogger outreach services, and more for indie authors! Check out the Author Services page for more information. You will also find Author Resources on our website which is great for indie and traditionally published authors – some in the form of guest posts from authors who have found success in the field.
There was a time when I had a bunch of reviewers, and it was really fun, but that’s been on hold for a while. I don’t see that changing any time soon! OJB is still open to guest posts by authors 🙂
WE DID IT! —> (We’d also like to eventually move to a self-hosted website, which will lead to better SEO rankings and hence greater visibility for the authors whose books we review.) The better SEO rankings, as it turns out, depend on me going in and doing it myself, which is an ongoing labor of love <3.
