I really enjoyed this book. I saw the movie a very long time ago and as such I’ve forgotten half the story line.
That considered, I expected the book to be longer but it was pretty short. I’ve recently discovered this new app called the Serial Reader and I absolutely love it. Wish I’d discovered it sooner. I imagine I will be reading a lot more classics with this wonderful app.
I’ve also started re-reading Pride and Prejudice on it. Jane Austen is my guilty pleasure. But I digress.
Now, about this book. It was absolutely great, with the book itself sort of mocking the whole idea. This was meta before meta was even a thing. But that’s why I love Fitzgerald.
I’m not going to get into the biological impossibility of the things that transpire in this book, but even hypothetically, it’s a really intriguing piece of work. You do wonder about things, and maybe this will even help you, if you’re at a kind of place in your life where you are probably dissatisfied with something or the other. Even though it is clearly, obviously fiction. Helps put things in perspective. Atleast it did for me.
Read it atleast once. Contemplate your mortality in the process, maybe.
